Since BSA’s appointment to provide Structural Engineering Services to Manxonia House in Port St Mary, it has been a two year-long journey that has both challenged and engaged our engineers. The task was to come up with technically sound but sympathetic solutions that do not detract from this beautiful 19th Century property, whilst still delivering our passionate client’s vision for the new tea rooms and restaurant that will become a landmark destination in the South of the Isle of Man.
August 2023 was a special time for all involved, as the scaffolding was finally removed from the exterior and the beauty of the newly restored building was revealed once again. From structurally strengthening and repairing the exterior walls using Helifix Sockfix Chemical Anchors, to assessing and restoring the existing timber framed trusses and providing a radial roofed extension that will soak up the views over Chapel Bay, BSA are extremely proud of all that has been achieved here so far and we look forward to seeing the finished product soon.
